Victorine, born in 1965 in Esch/Alzette, Luxembourg, has always had a deep connection to angels, inspired by her grandfather's exquisite wooden carvings displayed in local churches. In 1992, she took a bold step and moved to New York City, where she honed her artistic skills at the Art Students League of Manhattan under the mentorship of renowned artist Lorrie Goulet, focusing on stone sculpture.
After the tragic events of 9/11, Victorine felt a powerful urge to create art that embodies healing and hope. This led to her creation of the "White Angel," sculpted from Italian alabaster and showcased at the Gelabert Gallery in NYC. In 2006, she expanded her artistic repertoire by exploring metalwork, starting with cold-cast bronze. This new medium allowed her to experiment with texture and form, culminating in her innovative series titled "Fusion," where she combined sterling silver with copper and applied unique oxidized finishes.
In 2018, Victorine unveiled a life-size collection of metal angel wings, crafted from copper and sterling silver, meticulously shaped and finished with colorful patinas, mounted on stainless steel panels. Her work continued to resonate with themes of flight and protection.
In 2022, to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the Luxembourg community's emigration to Wisconsin, she was commissioned to create a sculpture titled "Immigration." This piece, depicting a small family enveloped in wings, was originally carved in poplar wood, then cast in bronze and finished with intricate patinas. A wearable version in sterling silver and gold is also available at the Luxembourg Museum in Belgium, Wisconsin, and online.
Victorine's journey is a testament to her passion for art and her belief in the transformative power of angels, creating works that inspire and heal.
